Dear Representative Brawley,
Along with my colleagues in the state’s 540 cities, towns, and villages that make up the North Carolina League of Municipalities, I would like to thank you for your support of issues of critical importance to cities during the 2015 legislative session. Just like you, we strive every day to respond to the needs of our constituents and residents. To that end, we appreciate your understanding of the necessary tools our laws must authorize for us to best serve and protect our residents and to grow our local and regional economies.
In particular, we are grateful to you for your tenacity in pursuing an outcome on the sales tax redistribution proposal that was strongly supported by the residents and elected officials in your district. We also appreciate your work to preserve enhanced transportation funding streams and the revised, non-politicized transportation prioritization process. Your efforts made a difference for our local residents, and we thank you for the time and attention you paid to get the right results. Our local officials and League staff look forward to continuing to work with you next session, though we hope you have the opportunity to recharge during this interim period.
The League members recognize that for our citizens to prosper and enjoy economic opportunities all across the state, we must partner cooperatively with the General Assembly. This session showed us the many areas in which we can find common ground to further that goal, and we hope you will agree that we built a solid foundation upon which to strengthen the state-local partnership. We thank you for your tireless efforts on behalf of all North Carolinians.
